Keeping Your Ice Clean

Q:

How often do I need to replace my water filter?

A:

Your water filter should be replaced every 6 months to maintain ice quality and protect the evaporator from performance-robbing buildup. As an added bonus, when you purchase an Ice-O-Matic water filter with your cuber and replace it every 6 months, you are eligible for a 7-year parts and labor warranty - the longest warranty in the industry.

Q:

Can my plumber install my ice machine?

A:

While it's possible, we recommend hiring a professional, factory-authorized service technician. Getting help from someone who understands installation requirements, such as maximizing airflow and reducing ambient temperatures in and around the machine, is the best bet to ensuring your new ice machine runs at capacity at all times.

Q:

What type of cleaners can I use on my ice machine?

A:

Different types of cleaning fluids should be used on various parts of your machine. To clean your bin, a mild cleanser applied with a soft cloth will do the job (just remember to rinse after you're done!). For the evaporator, we recommend first using a nickel-safe cleaner then an EPA-approved sanitizer. Lastly, to make sure your air filter is running as efficiently as possible, simply use a clean brush to wipe off any dust that may have gathered. You can also check out our YouTube video for even more cleaning tips.

Q:

How do I make sure my customers are getting the cleanest ice possible?

A:

It's easy to ensure your ice is as clean as possible with a few simple steps.
1. Fully clean your ice machine every six months.
2. Use a proper ice scooper to help prevent your employee's hands from touching and contaminating the ice.
3. Don't ever keep the lid open for an extended period of time.
4. Never use the ice bin as a freezer for food and beverages.
